Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface enjoyed a dream debut for Werder Bremen, coming off the bench to provide an assist in a 4-0 Bundesliga victory over Borussia Mönchengladbach.
The 24-year-old Nigerian striker joined Bremen on loan from Bayer Leverkusen late in the transfer window after a proposed move to AC Milan collapsed.
Injuries had hampered his progress last season, but he made an immediate impression on his first outing.
Bremen took control early, with Samuel Mbangula opening the scoring before Jens Stage doubled the advantage before half-time. Romano Schmid extended the lead from the penalty spot midway through the second half.

Super Eagles full-back Felix Agu featured in the win, adding to the Nigerian presence in Bremen’s line-up.
The result ended Bremen’s winless start to the season, following a 4-1 defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt and a 3-3 draw against Boniface’s parent club Leverkusen.
