Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has reportedly rejected a potential move to Manchester United, opting instead to return to Galatasaray.
According to Turkish journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu, Manchester United’s interest in signing Osimhen was genuine, but the deal ultimately fell through due to the club’s request for a wage cut.
Victor Osimhen (26), who had a remarkable season with 37 goals in 41 games, was reportedly attracted to the idea of playing in the Premier League.

However, when Manchester United approached him, they asked him to take a pay cut, which he declined, stating that doing so will affect the comfort of his immediate family. The energetic ball-fighting striker decided to prioritise his comfort and stability at Galatasaray, where he has found success and titles.
The decision to reject Manchester United’s offer might have come as a surprise to many, given the club’s reputation and the opportunity to play in one of the world’s most competitive leagues.

The Nigerian Striker had also reportedly turned a big money move to Saudi Arabia, favouring a stay in any of Europes elite clubs with Manchester United and Chelsea FC at first appearing to be his destination. However, things did not work out as planned between the two parties in the deal.
Galatasaray and Napoli are still working out the details of Osimhen’s transfer, and it’s expected that the loan deal will be made permanent.
Meanwhile, Manchester United might need to look elsewhere for their striker needs, with options like Ollie Watkins being considered.
The pursuit of Watkins would make sense, given his proven track record in the Premier League and his ability to score goals consistently. Additionally, Watkins knows the league well, which would facilitate his adaptation to Manchester United’s style of play.
