“World-class”: Lookman impresses former Atletico star after fast start

Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman has been praised for his impressive start at Atletico Madrid following his move from Atalanta in the January transfer window.

The 28-year-old has scored four goals and provided three assists in his opening 13 appearances, quickly establishing himself as an important figure under manager Diego Simeone.

Former Atletico midfielder Raul Garcia has been among those impressed, describing Lookman’s early performances as a sign of his quality.

“He’s gotten things off to a good start,” Garcia said. “To begin like that is not easy, and he has done it very well. To me, he is a world-class player.”

Lookman’s transition to Spanish football has been seamless, with his attacking contributions helping Atletico maintain momentum in both domestic and European competitions.

He recently featured in Atletico’s UEFA Champions League tie against Tottenham Hotspur, where the Spanish side progressed to the quarter-finals. Alongside established stars such as Antoine Griezmann, the Nigeria international has added pace and creativity to Atletico’s forward line.
