Nigeria’s world record holder in the 100m hurdles, Tobi Amusan, has posted an impressive season’s best of 11.18 seconds in the 100m flat race at the Racers Grand Prix in Kingston, Jamaica.
The 27-year-old, more widely known for her dominance over the hurdles, finished fourth in a high-quality field stacked with specialist sprinters.
Jamaica’s Tina Clayton took victory in 10.98 seconds, followed by the USA’s Jacious Sears in 11.04 seconds, and Jamaican teenager Alana Reid, who edged Amusan for third place in 11.16 seconds.

Despite narrowly missing out on the podium, Amusan’s performance was a significant marker of her form ahead of the hurdles season.
The Nigerian athlete has increasingly turned to flat sprint events to enhance her explosive start and sprinting rhythm.

Amusan holds the world record in the 100m hurdles (12.12s), set at the 2022 World Championships in Oregon, and is among the leading medal contenders heading into the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Her latest outing in Jamaica underlines her fitness and focus as she continues her preparations for the summer’s major championships.
