Sixteen male and five female teams from across Nigeria are set to compete in the second edition of the Senate President’s U-18 Unity Cup 2025, which kicks off in 10 days at the Old Parade Ground, Area 10, Garki, Abuja.
Organised by the Grassroots Sports Federation (GRASOF), the youth tournament strictly for players under 18 will run from 7th to 17th November 2025. It aims to promote unity, nurture young football talents, and foster the spirit of sportsmanship among Nigerian youths.
The defending champions, Greatness SC of Ebonyi State, will look to retain their title after edging Qatar Football Academy of Borno State in last year’s final. Kebbi Selected FC finished third in the 2024 edition.
This year’s male lineup features: Jaguar FC (Abia), Qatar Football Academy (Borno), Uzodimma Babes (Imo), Kebbi Selected (Kebbi), Avengers FC (Delta), Kaduna United (Kaduna), Great Olympic FA (Lagos), Essien Udim United (Akwa Ibom), Intertech FA (Kano), Agbana Wonderful Academic (Ekiti), Amahus FA (Yobe), Citiboi FC (Bayelsa), Folsa Academy (Abuja), Tanko Baba Academy (Nasarawa), Lanre Moyero FC (Ondo), and Gamji Taraba Academy (Taraba).
The maiden female category will feature Elegant Angels FC (Akwa Ibom), Young Stars Football Academy (Abuja), Horvel Prime Girls Academy (Plateau), FCT Queens (Abuja), and Ebira Football Academy (Kogi).
Tournament Coordinator Hon. John Bassey Ekpenyong has met with several football stakeholders and sports administrators, including Senator Ahmed Ningi, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, and former Super Eagles coach Samson Siasia, to boost awareness and support for the competition.
The Local Organising Committee, led by Senator Musa Mustafa and Hon. Ali Gombe, has assured that preparations are in top gear to ensure a smooth and successful event.
With just 10 days to kickoff, excitement is building as Abuja braces for an action-packed grassroots football showcase featuring some of the country’s brightest young talents.
