U17 World Cup: Canada outclass Nigeria as Flamingos suffer heavy defeat

Canada handed Nigeria’s Flamingos a harsh welcome to the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup, running out 4-1 winners in their opening Group D match at the Football Academy Mohammed VI in Salé, near Rabat, Morocco.

The North Americans took the lead inside two minutes when Gabriela Istocki finished off a clever move started by Molly Hale on the left flank.

Nigeria responded well, pushing Canada back with sustained pressure. Captain Shakirat Moshood saw two long-range efforts go close.
