Rivers United of Nigeria will be aiming to revive their group-stage campaign in the 2025/2026 CAF Champions League when they face Zambia’s Power Dynamos on Saturday.
Both teams are still without a point in Group A after losing their opening two matches to defending champions Pyramids FC and Morocco’s RS Berkane, leaving little margin for error as the competition enters a decisive phase.
Saturday’s fixture at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola, offers a vital opportunity for either side to claim their first win and keep their qualification hopes alive.
Despite their struggles on the continental stage, both Power Dynamos and Rivers United arrive as leaders in their respective domestic leagues, underlining the quality and confidence each team brings into the encounter.
Speaking ahead of the match, Rivers United head coach George Finidi said his side would approach the away fixture with an attacking mindset.
“I think it’s going to be an interesting match. We’ve both lost two games, so we expect both teams to do their best to try and win,” Finidi told reporters.
“It’s an away game for us, so we have nothing to lose. We have to go for the win if we want to achieve something in this tournament.”
The former Nigeria international added that his team must begin picking up points immediately if they are to remain in contention for a place in the knockout rounds.

“Our goal is to qualify from the group, and it starts with this game,” he said.
“We’re going into the match with the mindset to compete, match them, and see how we can get the best result here. Even though it’s an away game, we have to approach it positively.”
