Arokodare continues his love affair with London clubs

Tolu Arokodare once again found the net against London opposition, but his goal could not prevent Wolverhampton Wanderers from a 3-1 Premier League defeat by Chelsea at Molineux.

The Nigerian striker scored his second league goal of the season, with both coming against clubs from the capital, having also netted against Arsenal earlier in the campaign.

It was also his second goal against Chelsea this season, following his strike against the Blues in the EFL Cup.

Despite Arokodare’s effort, Chelsea were firmly in control for much of the contest. The visitors struck three times in the first half, with Cole Palmer producing a devastating hat-trick inside 25 minutes as Wolves struggled to contain Chelsea’s pace and movement.

Wolves were second best before the break and went into the interval facing a daunting 3-0 deficit. However, the hosts emerged with greater urgency after the restart and were almost rewarded when Mateus Mane struck the woodwork with a powerful effort.

Moments later, Arokodare reduced the deficit, reacting quickest to a flick-on from a corner to finish from close range and give Wolves renewed belief. The forward later threatened again when put through on goal, but Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez made the save to preserve the visitors’ advantage.

Wolves remain bottom of the table after the defeat, with Arokodare’s sixth goal in 29 matches across all competitions standing out as a small consolation.
