Wolves 2–1 Liverpool: Arokodare muscled, Andre hammered, Reds rattled

Tolu Arokodare played a decisive role as Wolverhampton Wanderers secured a dramatic 2–1 victory over Liverpool FC in Tuesday’s Premier League encounter at Molineux.

The Nigerian forward, making his 25th league appearance of the campaign, registered his first Premier League assist  adding to his two goals this season to help Wolves claim back-to-back top-flight wins for the first time since April 2025.

Liverpool dominated early possession but struggled to convert pressure into clear chances. Cody Gakpo and Jeremie Frimpong both tested Wolves’ resolve, while Hugo Ekitiké’s driving runs caused momentary concern.

However, clear-cut opportunities were scarce. Wolves failed to register a shot before half-time, while Liverpool managed only two efforts on target in a subdued opening period.

The match burst into life in the 78th minute.

Arokodare latched onto a long ball and used his strength to outmuscle Virgil van Dijk before slipping a precise pass into Rodrigo Gomes. The winger produced a delicate dink over Alisson to give Wolves a surprise lead and spark wild celebrations inside Molineux.

It was a landmark moment for Arokodare his first Premier League assist since arriving in England and a reward for his persistence in attack.

Liverpool equalised through Mohamed Salah, who intercepted a loose pass and toe-poked beyond José Sá to level the contest.
