Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade has criticised the Confederation of African Football following the late rescheduling of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in 2026.
CAF on Thursday confirmed that the tournament, initially scheduled to begin in March in Morocco, has been moved to a new window between 25 July and 16 August.
The decision, announced only weeks before the planned kick-off, has drawn criticism from players and stakeholders across African women’s football.

Ajibade expressed her frustration in a post on her official X account, where she called for greater respect and organisation for the women’s game on the continent.
“African women football deserves better. 😡 #CAF,” the Nigeria captain wrote.
The reaction comes after the Super Falcons had recently played a double-header friendly against Cameroon as part of their preparations for the tournament. Nigeria won one match and lost the other during the series.

Following the games, the team had planned to move to Morocco for their training camp ahead of the competition.

However, the players were reportedly instructed by the Nigeria Football Federation to return to their respective club bases due to the lack of clear communication from CAF regarding the status of the tournament.
