Ademola Lookman admitted he felt “disappointed” despite scoring the crucial goal that helped Atletico Madrid eliminate FC Barcelona from the UEFA Champions League.
Atlético lost 2-1 on the night at the Metropolitano after early goals from Lamine Yamal and Ferran Torres overturned their first-leg advantage.
However, Lookman’s 31st-minute strike proved decisive, as Diego Simeone’s side progressed 3-2 on aggregate to reach the semi-finals.
Speaking after the match, the Nigeria international reflected on a difficult contest against Hansi Flick’s side.
“Going 2-0 down was tough. A game of two halves, really. We stuck in there, we dug in,” he said.
“We didn’t get the win tonight but we’re through to the semi-finals.”

Atletico had taken control of the tie with a 2-0 first-leg victory at Camp Nou, allowing them to withstand Barcelona’s second-leg fightback.
Lookman’s goal ultimately settled the contest, continuing his record of delivering in key European moments.
