Paul Onuachu missed several chances as Trabzonspor were held to a 1-1 draw by Istanbul Basaksehir, dealing a setback to their title ambitions.

The Nigeria striker returned to the starting line-up after missing the previous match and was involved early, but failed to convert two first half opportunities as Trabzonspor dominated possession without reward.

Despite sustained pressure, the home side could not break the deadlock before the interval, with both teams going into the break level.

Trabzonspor continued to control proceedings after half-time, with Onuachu and Anthony Nwakaeme both missing clear chances.

The breakthrough eventually came in the 73rd minute through Felipe Augusto, giving the hosts hope of closing the gap on the league leaders.

However, Davie Selke equalised late on for Basaksehir, ensuring the points were shared.

The result leaves Trabzonspor with ground to make up in the title race, with leaders Galatasaray and rivals Fenerbahce maintaining their advantage at the top.
