Athletics Federation of Nigeria has officially opened Team Nigeria’s training camp in Lagos as preparations begin for the upcoming World Relays Championship in Gaborone.
The one week programme will be overseen by the federation’s Technical Director, Gabriel Okon, with athletes fine-tuning their readiness for the global event scheduled for May 2–3, 2026.
A strong group of home based athletes has been invited across the relay events, underlining the depth available to the national team.
In the men’s 4x100m squad are Enoch Adegoke, James Taiwo Emmanuel, Chidera Ezeakor, and Tejire Godwin.
The men’s 4x400m team includes Ezekiel Enoh Azukwo, Gafari Badmus, Victor Ime, Samson Nathaniel, and Emmanuel Ojeli.

For the women’s 4x100m, Jenifer Chukwuka, Miracle Ezechukwu, Rosemary Nwankwo, and Maria Thompson Omokwe are expected in camp.
The women’s 4x400m squad features Anita Enaruna, Patience Okon George, Toheebat Jimoh, Taiwo Mary Kudoro, Jecinta Lawrence, Esther Okon, and Sekiru Adewale Adeyemi.
Foreign based athletes are expected to link up with the squad upon arrival in Gaborone, completing the team ahead of the championship.
In the men’s 110m hurdles, Anthony Edward Jr claimed victory in 13.61 seconds, narrowly ahead of Yusuf Badawi (13.76), while Nigeria’s Musa Wisdom placed third in 14.34.

The women’s 400m saw Femi Adekoya produce a standout performance, winning in 50.28 seconds ahead of Mercy Chebet (51.38), with Patience Okon George finishing third in 51.70.
In the men’s 400m, Justice Oratile ran 44.92 to take top spot, ahead of Ruathdel Nhial Gnange (45.53), while Samson Nathaniel completed the podium in 45.89.
