Nigeria’s Super Falcons have moved up one place to 36th in the latest FIFA Women’s World Ranking, while maintaining their status as Africa’s highest-ranked side.
The ten-time African champions were previously ranked 37th in December 2025 and have edged up despite limited international action in the latest ranking cycle.
Since the last update, Nigeria played two friendly matches against Cameroon in late February and early March 2026. They lost the first encounter 1-0 before responding with a 3-1 victory in the return fixture.
The results form part of preparations for the upcoming 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
Despite playing only twice, Nigeria remains firmly at the summit of African women’s football. South Africa is second on the continent but have dropped to 58th in the world.

Black queens of Ghana sit third in Africa and have climbed to 59th globally, while Morocco and Zambia complete the continental top five at 62nd and 64th respectively.
At the top of the global rankings, Spain remains number one, ahead of the United States.
England have climbed to third, with Germany women’s national football team dropping to fourth and Japan women’s national football team completing the top five.

Elsewhere, Brazil is sixth, followed by France in seventh. Sweden have fallen to eighth, while Canada moves up to ninth, with Netherlands women’s national football team rounding out the top 10.
Nigeria will look to build on their position when competitive action resumes later this year.
