Team Nigeria unleash 24 Athletes for World Relays in Botswana

Team Nigeria will compete in all six relay events at the 2026 World Athletics Relays in Gaborone, marking a major boost after gaining additional entries beyond initial qualifications.

Team Nigeria will compete across all six relay events at the 2026 World Athletics Relays after receiving approval to expand its entries, according to World Athletics.

The update confirms a major boost for the country’s athletics ambitions, with a full squad of 24 athletes set to represent Nigeria in Gaborone next month. The team will be aiming to secure automatic qualification spots for the 2027 World Championships.

Originally qualified in three events, the men’s and women’s 4x400m, as well as the mixed 4x100m Nigeria has now expanded its reach across all six disciplines, adding both 4x100m teams and the mixed 4x400m to its program.

In the sprint relays, the men’s 4x100m team will feature the pace of Enoch Adegoke, Favour Ashe and Taiwo Emmanuel, alongside Chidera Ezeakor and Tejiri Godwin, while the women’s 4x100m unit blends experience and depth through Jennifer Obi Chukwuka, Rosemary Chukwuma, Miracle Ezechukwu, Rosemary Nwankwo, Blessing Ogundiran and Maria Thompson.

In the men’s 4x400m, Ezekiel Asuquo, Gafari Badmus and Victor Ime line up with established names like Samson Nathaniel, Chidi Okezie and Emmanuel Ojeli. The women’s 4x400m team includes Anita Enaruna and Toheebat Jimoh, supported by Taiwo Kudoro, Jencita Lawrence, Patience Okon-George and Esther Okon.

The mixed 4x100m combines Adegoke and Emmanuel with Chukwuma, Ezechukwu and Ogundiran, while the mixed 4x400m features Sikiru Adewale, Anita Enaruna, Okon-George, Toheebat Jimoh, Emmanuel Ojeli and Chidi Okezie.

The competition will take place on May 2 and 3 in Gaborone, Botswana, where the world’s top relay teams will gather for one of the most important events on the athletics calendar.
