Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu has received another major recognition for his outstanding campaign in Turkey after winning the 2025/26 Turkish Süper Lig Goal of the Season award.
The Trabzonspor forward claimed the prestigious honour for his spectacular bicycle kick during his side’s 4-2 victory over Fatih Karagümrük on September 27, 2025.
In a moment that showcased far more than his renowned aerial strength, the towering Nigerian produced an acrobatic overhead finish after connecting with a delivery from Wagner Pina, leaving goalkeeper Ivo Grbić with no chance and sending Trabzonspor supporters into celebration.
The strike emerged as the fans’ favourite at the end of the season, defeating goals from Beşiktaş midfielder Orkun Kökçü and Fenerbahçe attacker Marco Asensio to secure the award.

Confirming the result, the Turkish top flight announced Onuachu as the winner following the conclusion of the public vote.
“You chose, he won. The winner of the most beautiful goal of the 2025/26 Trendyol Süper Lig season has been determined: Paul Onuachu,” the league stated.
The award is the latest highlight in what has been another exceptional season for the Nigerian international.
Onuachu finished the league campaign with 22 goals and two assists, ending the season as the Süper Lig’s joint top scorer alongside İstanbul Başakşehir forward Eldor Shomurodov.
For long periods, the former Genk striker appeared destined to win the Golden Boot outright after embarking on a remarkable scoring streak that saw him pull clear of the chasing pack.
However, a slight dip in form during the closing weeks allowed Shomurodov to catch up and share the scoring crown.
Despite narrowly missing out on becoming the sole top scorer, Onuachu’s contribution once again underlined his importance to Trabzonspor and reinforced his reputation as one of the most reliable goalscorers in Turkish football.

The 31-year-old’s rise to cult-hero status in Trabzon began during his initial loan spell, when he scored 15 league goals and quickly won over supporters with his goalscoring exploits.
Those performances convinced the club to make his stay permanent, a decision that has since paid significant dividends.
Since then, Onuachu has remained the focal point of Trabzonspor’s attack, combining physical presence, aerial dominance and clinical finishing to devastating effect.
His Goal of the Season-winning effort also highlighted the technical quality that often goes unnoticed behind his reputation as a traditional target man.

Following another prolific campaign, questions surrounding Onuachu’s future have resurfaced.
The Nigerian striker has reportedly attracted interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia, with several teams believed to be monitoring his situation ahead of the summer transfer window.
Having finished as the league’s joint top scorer and now added the Goal of the Season award to his collection, the Super Eagles forward has once again demonstrated why he remains one of Nigeria’s most consistent performers abroad.
