Kano Pillars have confirmed the departure of eight players following the expiration of their contracts, with the development representing the latest phase of the club’s ongoing restructuring exercise under General Manager Ahmed Musa.
The former Nigeria Premier Football League champions announced that the contracts of Muhammad Galadima, Ugochukwu Gabriel, Zahraddeen Bello, Williams Ayuba, Bernard Ovoke, Christian Izuchukwu, Sudais Ali Baba and Aliyu Yakubu have officially come to an end following the conclusion of the 2025/26 season.
In a statement released by the club’s Media and Communications Directorate, Kano Pillars expressed appreciation to the departing players for their commitment and contributions during their time at the club.
“The club expresses its sincere appreciation to the players for their commitment, professionalism and contributions during their time with Sai Masu Gida,” the statement read.

The club also extended its best wishes to the players as they prepare for the next chapter of their respective careers, adding that their services and dedication would remain appreciated by the Kano Pillars family.
The departures come barely days after Kano Pillars announced a far-reaching restructuring programme designed to improve professionalism, accountability and operational efficiency across the club.
Last week, the club dissolved all previously constituted committees, terminated appointments across several departments and opened applications for various technical and support staff positions.
The restructuring exercise also affected personnel attached to Junior Pillars, the club’s U-19 side and several first team support roles, with management insisting the changes form part of a broader strategy aimed at modernising the club’s operations.
While the latest announcement focuses solely on players whose contracts have expired, the exits further underline the scale of changes currently taking place at one of Nigeria’s most historic football institutions.
The departure of eight players will inevitably create room for fresh arrivals as Kano Pillars prepare for the new campaign, with supporters now expected to turn their attention towards potential recruitment plans and the shape of the squad for the 2026/27 season.
