Fulham are preparing to reward Calvin Bassey’s rise at Craven Cottage with a new long term contract as the Premier League club look to secure the future of the Super Eagles defender.
Bassey has one year remaining on his current Fulham deal, although the club hold an option to extend his contract by another season, which would keep him at Craven Cottage until the summer of 2028.
According to TeamTalk, Fulham are now prepared to go further by offering the 26-year-old centre back a new long term agreement.
The move reflects Bassey’s growing importance to the London club since his arrival from Ajax in July 2023. What began as a move from the Netherlands has developed into an increasingly influential spell in the Premier League, with the Nigeria international establishing himself as a key member of Fulham’s defence.

Bassey’s standing at the club was particularly evident during the 2024/25 campaign, when he was named Fulham’s Player of the Season after an impressive year.
His importance has continued under new manager Alvaro Arbeloa. Bassey has started all three of Fulham’s Premier League matches this season, underlining his position in the manager’s plans at the beginning of the new campaign.
The defender has also accumulated significant experience at Craven Cottage, making 105 appearances for Fulham across all competitions since joining the club.
Bassey’s continued development at Premier League level represents another positive for the Super Eagles, with the versatile defender increasingly established in topflight football.

Fulham’s willingness to negotiate a fresh contract now underlines the progress Bassey has made since leaving Ajax.
