Victor Boniface proposed loan move from Bayer Leverkusen to AC Milan remains uncertain, even after the Nigerian striker completed all medical checks.
The Super Eagles forward, who has impressed in Germany over the past two seasons, is set to join Milan on a season-long loan with an option to buy for around €30 million.
Personal terms have already been agreed, but the club is awaiting a final verdict from its orthopaedic team.
Nigerian journalist Buchi Laba reported that Boniface “passed his medicals” after three separate checks. However, Fabrizio Romano noted that Milan wanted a final sign-off from their orthopaedic specialists within 24 hours.
Belgian reporter Sacha Tavolieri cautioned that the latest scans had cooled Milan’s enthusiasm and left the move “at real risk” of collapsing.

On arrival in Milan, Boniface underwent initial medical tests at the Centro Ambrosiano before being sent to the Galeazzi Orthopaedic Institute for further examinations.
The additional scrutiny was ordered due to concerns over his previous injuries, including two anterior cruciate ligament operations and recurring groin problems.
Last season (2024/25), Boniface’s minutes were reduced after Patrik Schick reclaimed the starting role.
Despite fewer starts, the Nigerian still recorded 8 goals and 1 assist in 19 league appearances, maintaining an impressive strike rate of a goal contribution every other game.

The 24-year-old was instrumental in Leverkusen’s remarkable 2023/24 campaign, when the club won a historic Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal double without losing a single match.

Boniface finished as the team’s top league scorer with 14 goals and struck 21 times in all competitions, earning the Bundesliga Rookie of the Year award.
While the medicals themselves have been completed, AC Milan has not yet confirmed the transfer. The club is expected to make a final decision following its upcoming Serie A fixture against Cremonese.
