D’Tigress edge Mozambique to reach the AfroBasket 2025 quarterfinals and stretch their unbeaten run in the tournament to 26 games.

Nigeria’s D’Tigress edged past Mozambique 60–55 in a tense Group D encounter to book their place in the quarterfinals of the FIBA Women’s AfroBasket 2025, while stretching their stunning unbeaten run to 26 games.

The reigning African champions were made to dig deep at the Palais des Sports de Treichville, rallying from a halftime deficit to clinch their second group win and top the table.

Mozambique led 28–24 at the break, capitalising on Nigeria’s early shooting struggles.

But D’Tigress responded in trademark fashion, producing a 12–0 run in the third quarter to regain control and edge the period 18–15.

They maintained their momentum in the final stretch, outscoring Mozambique 18–12 in the fourth.

Murjanatu Musa emerged as Nigeria’s top performer, finishing with 19 points, while Mozambique’s Leia Dongue kept her side in contention with a solid 11-point effort.

Despite both teams enduring a poor shooting night from beyond the arc Nigeria at 13.04% and Mozambique at 20% the D’Tigress displayed composure and grit down the stretch to seal victory.

Nigeria top Group D and progress directly to the quarterfinals, reinforcing their status as favourites for a sixth consecutive AfroBasket title.
