Super Falcons forward and five-time WAFCON champion Francisca Mlumun Ordega has been honoured by the Benue State Government with ₦50 million, a fully furnished three-bedroom apartment and a street named after her in Makurdi.
Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia announced the rewards during a state reception on Thursday night, describing the 31-year-old as “a role model whose commitment, discipline and talent deserve to be celebrated.”
The honour came just a day after Ordega paid a humanitarian visit to the Yelewata Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Makurdi, where she donated relief materials to victims of violent attacks.

The visit followed months after a deadly attack in the community that claimed several lives and left many homeless.
Ordega, visibly moved, expressed solidarity with the affected families and called for sustained support for those displaced by insecurity.

Her outreach has drawn praise from community leaders and humanitarian advocates, with some urging other public figures to emulate her generosity.
Governor Alia, who also commended her WAFCON-winning performance in Morocco last month, said.
“Francisca Ordega has made Benue State and Nigeria proud. This is our little way of saying thank you.”
Ordega’s achievements have been recognised nationally, with President Bola Tinubu earlier gifting her a three-bedroom apartment in Abuja, $100,000 in cash, and conferring her with the national honour of the Order of the Niger.
