Former Napoli and Atalanta boss Bortolo Mutti has cautioned Atalanta against selling Nigerian star Ademola Lookman to Napoli, citing the player’s immense value to the team. Mutti believes Lookman is a fundamental piece for Atalanta and that losing him would be a significant blow.
“Lookman is an immense footballer who is fun and makes you win matches. He always manages to invent the play, he is a fundamental piece for Atalanta,” Mutti said in an interview with Radio Goal on Kiss Kiss Napoli.
Mutti also expressed his hopes that Lookman would stay at Atalanta, stating, “I hope Lookman doesn’t leave Atalanta.

The left wing is his ideal area because he comes back on the right, but in today’s football it’s easy to find other solutions. The good ones for me are good everywhere.”

However, Mutti believes that if Napoli signs Lookman, they would become the favorites to win the Scudetto. “If Napoli takes Lookman and also Lucca then they would win the championship again,” he added.
Lookman has been a key player for Atalanta, scoring 20 goals and providing seven assists in 40 appearances last season. Napoli’s new manager Antonio Conte reportedly sees Lookman as the perfect replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who moved to Paris Saint-Germain in January.
Atalanta is believed to be holding out for €60m, while Napoli is hoping to reach a compromise closer to €50m. The transfer saga has sparked intense debate among football fans, with many speculating about Lookman’s next destination.
