The Super Eagles will train this evening ahead of Thursday’s 2026 FIFA World Cup playoff against Gabon, following the intervention of the National Sports Commission (NSC) at the team’s camp in Rabat.
Officials from the NSC arrived at the Rive Hotel about an hour and thirty minutes ago to meet with players, coaches, and Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) representatives in a bid to resolve the team’s ongoing payment dispute.
The meeting appears to have yielded progress, as players have now agreed to return to training later today.
The squad had boycotted training yesterday over unpaid bonuses and allowances dating back to 2019, as well as disagreements with the NFF regarding a proposed special playoff bonus.
Captain William Troost-Ekong earlier denied reports that the players demanded any new financial package, insisting their concerns centred on long-standing entitlements yet to be cleared.
The NSC recently moved to settle all outstanding payments, though discussions are still ongoing over the payments tranches.

Nigeria have a full house of 24 players, including Maduka Okoye, Victor Osimhen, and Alhassan Yusuf, with head coach Eric Chelle set to lead this evening session despite being reportedly owed two months’ salary.
