Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong has confirmed that the team’s payment dispute has been settled, ending days of tension ahead of Thursday’s 2026 FIFA World Cup playoff against Gabon.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Troost-Ekong wrote:
“Issue RESOLVED. We are together and as before focused on the games ahead! @NGSuperEagles”
The confirmation comes after officials from the National Sports Commission (NSC) visited the team’s base at the Rive Hotel in Rabat, meeting with players, coaches, and Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) representatives to address outstanding payment concerns.
Sources at the camp say the team held a video analysis session earlier this afternoon, with full training scheduled for 5pm local time.
The squad had boycotted training yesterday over unpaid bonuses and allowances dating back to 2019.

The NSC’s intervention and subsequent talks with both parties appear to have brought a breakthrough, as all 24 players are now expected to participate in this evening’s session.
