Fisayo Dele-Bashiru delivered a decisive performance as Lazio secured their place in the Coppa Italia semi-finals with a penalty shootout victory over Bologna.
The Super Eagles midfielder, making his first start since returning from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, played a key role in Lazio’s equaliser during a 1-1 draw at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara.
Bologna had taken the lead in the 30th minute when Santiago Castro headed home to put the hosts in front.

Lazio responded shortly after the restart, with Dele-Bashiru at the heart of the move. The 25-year-old surged forward down the flank after receiving a pass from Adam Marusic and, under pressure, delivered a low cross into the area.
Tijjani Noslin met the ball calmly to level the score at 1-1 in the 48th minute.

With neither side able to find a winner in normal time, the contest was settled by penalties. Lazio converted all four of their spot-kicks, while Bologna scored only once and missed twice, sending the Biancocelesti into the last four.

Beyond his assist, Dele-Bashiru impressed statistically and physically. He completed all of his passes, registered two successful dribbles, made nine carries and contributed three ball recoveries.
His energetic display will have pleased coach Maurizio Sarri, particularly in a high-stakes knockout encounter.

Lazio will now face Atalanta in a two-legged semi-final. The first leg is scheduled for 4 March, with Atalanta hosting before the return fixture at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.
