EFL Cup: Nigeria’s Arokodare nets first Wolves goal as Fulham trio advance

Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare scored his first goal for Wolverhampton Wanderers in their 2-0 victory over Everton in the EFL Cup third round.

The 23-year-old, signed this summer from Belgian side Genk, came off the bench and struck in the 88th minute to seal Wolves’ win at Molineux after Marshall Munetsi’s opener.

It was Arokodare’s first goal for the club since his move to England, following two goalless appearances.

Elsewhere, fellow Super Eagles stars Samuel Chukwueze, Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey all featured as Fulham edged League Two side Cambridge United 1-0 at Craven Cottage.

Emile Smith Rowe scored the only goal for the hosts, while Chukwueze was introduced on the hour mark but struggled to make a major impact.

Bassey also came on, while Iwobi was rested.
