Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey scored his first Premier League goal in 16 matches as Fulham ended a 74-year winless run at Turf Moor with a dramatic 3-2 victory over Burnley.
The 25-year-old centre-back, expected to feature for Nigeria at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, rose to meet a cross from Harry Wilson in the six-yard box to put Fulham ahead 2-1, helping Marco Silva’s side secure a crucial away win following two consecutive league defeats.
Fulham opened the scoring inside nine minutes when Emile Smith Rowe turned in Wilson’s low cross. Burnley responded in the 21st minute through Lesley Ugochukwu, who capitalised on poor defensive positioning to level the score.
Bassey’s header restored Fulham’s lead shortly after, marking his first Premier League goal since March.

Fulham added a third in the 58th minute when Wilson cut inside onto his left foot and curled a precise finish following Samuel Chukwueze’s cutback. It was the Super Eagles winger 4th assists in 8 games since joining on loan.
Another AFCON bound Nigerian international Alex Iwobi played in the midfield role for 79 minutes in his 16th PL appearance where he has scored 2 goals and 2 assists.

Burnley pulled one back in the 86th minute. A cross from Quilindschy Hartman was flicked on by Bassey, falling to Oliver Sonne, who converted into the bottom corner.

The victory ended Fulham’s 34-game winless streak at Turf Moor their first win there since April 1951 and lifts morale ahead of AFCON, while Burnley dropped to a seventh consecutive league defeat.
