Inter Lagos have appointed Olusanjo Olutayo as interim head coach following the departure of Shakiru Giwa, handing the tactician the task of reviving their struggling 2026/27 EuroMatch Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) campaign.
Giwa parted ways with the Lagos-based club on Tuesday after a disappointing start to the season, with Inter Lagos yet to record a victory after eight matches.
The club confirmed Olutayo’s appointment in a statement, saying: “We are pleased to announce Coach Olusanjo Olutayo as our interim Head Coach. Welcome on board!”
Olutayo arrives with experience in Lagos football, having entered the Nigerian professional game through Sporting Lagos before moving to G12, where he made an impression by challenging some of the state’s established sides in the last Lagos State FA Cup.

His appointment at Inter Lagos marks a return to familiar surroundings, but the immediate challenge is considerably demanding.
The club have collected just two points from their opening eight league matches and sit bottom of the NPFL table.
Olutayo is expected to take charge for the first time on Sunday when Inter Lagos host Nasarawa United at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, Lagos, in a Matchday Nine fixture.
The new interim coach will be tasked with finding a way to turn the team’s early-season struggles around and secure their first league win of the campaign.

Inter Lagos are already under pressure near the foot of the table, therefore Sunday’s match offers Olutayo an early opportunity to make an impression and begin the club’s climb away from the bottom.
