Eric Chelle unveils squad for London Unity Cup and Russia friendly

Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle names 12 NPFL players for the Unity Cup where Nigeria will face Ghana, Jamaica, and Trinidad & Tobago

Nigeria’s Head Coach, Eric Chelle, has unveiled the Super Eagles squad for the upcoming Unity Cup Tournament in London and a friendly match against Russia.

The Unity Cup Tournament will feature top African teams, including Ghana, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago, and will take place at the Gtech Community Stadium in Brentford, West London.

The 25-man squad for the Unity Cup Tournament includes some of Nigeria’s top players. Goalkeepers Stanley Nwabali, Maduka Okoye, and Amas Obasogie are part of the squad.

The defenders include Bruno Onyemaechi, Oluwasemilogo Ajayi, Igoh Ogbu, Junior Harrison Nduka, Ifeanyi Onyebuchi, Sodiq Ismaila, and Waliu Ojetoye. The midfielders are Wilfred Ndidi, Frank Onyeka, Saviour Isaac, Chrisantus Uche, Papa Daniel Mustapha, and Collins Ugwueze.

The forwards include Samuel Chukwueze, Kelechi Iheanacho, Moses Simon, Nathan Tella, Cyriel Dessers, Sikiru Alimi, Tolu Arokodare, Ahmed Musa, and Adamu Abubakar.

For the friendly match against Russia, Chelle has selected a 21-man squad, including captain William Ekong, Olaoluwa Aina, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Raphael Onyedika, Victor Boniface, and Sadiq Umar. The match is scheduled to take place on June 6th at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow.

The Unity Cup Tournament will kick off with the first semi-final on May 27th, featuring Trinidad and Tobago against Jamaica. The second semi-final will take place on May 28th, with Nigeria facing Ghana in a highly anticipated match.

The tournament will conclude on May 31st with the third-place game and the final. With these talented squads, Nigeria’s Super Eagles are poised to make a strong impression in both the Unity Cup Tournament and the friendly match against Russia.
