Galatasaray set hefty price tag for Osimhen

Turkish Super Lig side Galatasaray have placed a reported ₦136 billion price tag on Nigeria forward Victor Osimhen following interest from Spanish giants Barcelona.

According to Turkish outlet Haberlisin, Barcelona are plotting a summer move for the 27-year-old striker, who only joined Galatasaray permanently last summer in a Turkish record €75 million transfer.

Galatasaray now said to be demanding €80 million approximately ₦136 billion  the Istanbul club are determined to protect their investment just seven months after securing his signature.

Osimhen has continued his prolific form in Turkey, scoring 15 goals and registering one assist in 21 appearances across all competitions this season. He has been particularly influential in the UEFA Champions League, where he has netted six times.

The Super Eagles forward recently reached the milestone of 200 career goals, underlining his reputation as one of the most consistent strikers in world football over the past four years.

As first reported by Haberlisin, Barcelona are assessing attacking reinforcements ahead of the summer window.

Robert Lewandowski, the club’s current first-choice striker, turns 38 in August, and the Catalan side are understood to be planning for the future. Ferran Torres is not viewed as a long-term central solution, prompting interest in a marquee number nine.

Osimhen’s physical presence, pace and proven goal record have reportedly made him one of the standout candidates on Barcelona’s shortlist.

Despite their global stature, Barcelona’s well-documented financial challenges could complicate any move for the Nigerian international.

While the club have managed to navigate restrictions to complete major transfers in recent seasons, meeting Galatasaray’s reported ₦136bn valuation would require significant financial structuring.

Osimhen is said to be enjoying life in Istanbul, where he earns a Turkish-record salary. However, a move to La Liga would represent another major step in his career in one of Europe’s traditional top five leagues.
