Former Nigeria international Ike Shorunmu has urged goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali to carefully consider his career ambitions as Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca look to secure his signature this summer.
Nwabali, who currently plays for Chippa United in South Africa, has attracted interest from the 22-time Moroccan champions following an impressive run of form in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) and on the international stage.
“Ultimately, it is up to Stanley to decide what he wants from his life and his football career,” Shorunmu told Footy Africa. “He is a fantastic goalkeeper with the quality to succeed anywhere.”
Raja Casablanca are eager to reinforce their squad after finishing fifth in the 2024/25 Botola Pro League and view the Nigerian shot-stopper as a key candidate to anchor their backline ahead of the new campaign.

Since joining Chippa in 2022, he has racked up 65 total appearances and developed into one of the most reliable goalkeepers in the PSL.
His value has soared in recent months, currently listed at $650,000 by Transfermarkt.

The Nigeria international rose to global prominence during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), where he played a pivotal role in the Super Eagles run to the final, earning plaudits for his composure and shot-stopping ability.
Shorunmu, a former goalkeeper for Nigeria and Turkish side Beşiktaş, believes a move to Morocco could prove beneficial for Nwabali if handled correctly.
“It’s a new environment, different from what he’s used to in South Africa,” Shorunmu said.
“The club clearly believes in him, and it is now up to Stanley to prove himself again. It could be a great stepping stone to Europe or bigger African clubs.”
