English Premier League club Wolves have confirmed the signing of Nigeria international striker Tolu Arokodare from Belgian side Genk on a four-year deal, with an option of a further season.
The 24-year-old arrives at Molineux after a prolific campaign in Belgium, where he won the 2023/24 Belgian Pro League Golden Boot, scoring 21 league goals and 23 in all competitions.
Standing at 6ft 6in, Arokodare’s journey to England has been unconventional. After starting his career in Nigeria, he moved to Latvia with Valmiera in 2019 and announced himself with 22 goals in 34 matches.
That form earned him a loan move to the Bundesliga with FC Köln, followed by two seasons in France’s Ligue 2 at Amiens, where he struck 21 times.

He joined Genk in January 2023 and quickly became a key figure. During his first full season, he played 52 matches across all competitions, including seven in Europe, and scored 15 goals.

Last season was even better: 23 goals and seven assists in 44 games, with his 21 league goals making him joint-top scorer. He claimed the Golden Boot due to his superior away goal tally.
International breakthrough
Arokodare has also broken into the Nigerian national team this year, winning four caps. He scored his first international goal against Russia in June, having earlier helped the Super Eagles qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations.

Speaking after completing the transfer, the striker described his excitement at joining Wolves.
“It feels amazing. It did take a while, but I’m finally here and I’m happy. I didn’t need convincing. I know the history of the club and the players who have been here and progressed. I like the project, and that’s what I want for myself , to improve, to progress, and to help this team.”

He also explained why he feels ready for the Premier League.
“The Premier League is a league full of physicality, high intensity, a lot of runs and I think I’m that kind of player. I’m strong, I’m fast. The first few weeks won’t be the easiest, but it’s a challenge I’m ready for.”
On winning the Golden Boot, Arokodare admitted it was bittersweet.
“It wasn’t easy, because there was very good competition. To be honest, I was joint top scorer, but it was an amazing feeling. It was just a little bit sad we didn’t win the title, but it’s something to take home with me.”
Looking ahead
Arokodare has already featured five times for Genk this season, scoring against Standard Liège earlier this month, but now turns his focus to life in England.
“I can’t wait to meet the guys, the coach, and to start training. I tried on the jerseys yesterday, the three different ones they felt amazing, they felt right. I can’t wait for the first game, whether I’m starting, coming off the bench, or not playing, I just want to be in front of the fans.”
Wolves will hope his physical presence and goal-scoring pedigree can add extra firepower to their attack, as Arokodare begins his first Premier League adventure.
