Nigerian duo Ademola Lookman and Raphael Onyedika produced standout performances as Atlético Madrid and Club Brugge KV played out a dramatic 3-3 draw in their UEFA Champions League knockout play-off first leg.
Atletico made a fast start when Julián Alvarez converted an early penalty, before Lookman doubled the advantage in first-half stoppage time, reacting quickest to Antoine Griezmann’s flick from a corner to score from close range.
Brugge responded strongly after the break, with Onyedika reducing the deficit after capitalising on a loose ball in the box following Jan Oblak’s initial save.

The goal marked his second in six Champions League appearances this season.
The hosts completed the turnaround through Nicolò Tresoldi, but Atletico restored parity via an own goal forced by Marcos Llorente’s cross under pressure from substitute Alexander Sørloth.

Christos Tzolis then struck late to ensure the tie remains level heading into the return leg in Madrid.
