Lookman cuts ties with Atalanta after Inter Milan bid rejected

Ademola Lookman is at the centre of a €60m transfer battle as Inter Milan lead a host of European giants chasing the Atalanta forward.

Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman has removed all Atalanta-related content from his Instagram page and unfollowed the club following reports that the Italian side rejected a €45 million bid from Inter Milan.

The 26-year-old also changed his profile image on both Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) to a black background, a move interpreted as a sign of discontent as tensions escalate over his future.

Inter Milan are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of the new Serie A season and identified Lookman as a priority target.

The club, under new head coach Cristian Chivu, submitted an opening offer last week, but Atalanta declined, reportedly holding out for at least €50 million in guaranteed fees.

Despite having two years remaining on his current contract, Lookman has been linked with a move away from Bergamo since last season.

Last summer, the club blocked a potential transfer, but the situation has shifted this year, with Atalanta open to selling albeit on their own terms.

In an effort to convince him to stay, Atalanta are believed to have tabled a new deal that would keep Lookman at the Gewiss Stadium until 2029, with an improved annual salary of €4.5 million. However, the player has shown no sign of accepting the offer.

Lookman’s decision to unfollow the club and erase posts suggests he is unhappy with how the negotiations are unfolding. Such actions have become a familiar signal among footballers seeking to force a move.

Inter Milan, having agreed personal terms with the player, are expected to return with a revised offer in the coming days. Whether Atalanta will adjust their stance remains to be seen, but Lookman’s social media activity leaves little doubt about his desire to move on.
