Ndidi rises from sorrow to spearhead Besiktas blitz against Goztepe

Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi marked his return to action for Besiktas with a goal in their commanding 4-0 win over Goztepe in Sunday’s Turkish Super Lig encounter.

Ndidi had been granted compassionate leave after travelling to Nigeria for his father’s burial and was absent for last week’s 3-2 victory over Istanbul Başakşehir.

Restored to the starting line-up, the midfielder quickly showed his importance.

He opened the scoring in the ninth minute, climbing above defenders to power a header home from a corner and set the tone for a dominant performance. The effort was his second goal in 17 appearances since joining the Istanbul club last summer.
