The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has dismissed reports suggesting Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle requested a new contract worth $130,000 per month alongside a series of additional benefits.
Speculation over Chelle’s contract situation intensified following Nigeria’s third-place finish at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, with reports claiming the coach had presented extensive demands during negotiations.
According to the journalist Shina Oludare the Malian tactician said to currently earn around $50,000 monthly had sought a significant salary increase as well as new deals for members of his technical staff and personal assistant.
Further claims suggested the requests included provision of a chauffeur-driven vehicle, secure accommodation with uninterrupted electricity supply and a dedicated office space equipped for technical analysis.
Chelle had asked for business-class travel arrangements for himself and his wife, economy tickets for his children and expanded authority over operational matters such as friendly match scheduling, training camps and youth development programmes.

However, NFF Director of Communications Ademola Olajire rejected the claims, stating he had no knowledge of any such demands from the national team coach.
“Sincerely, I am not aware,” Olajire told Leadership Newspaper.
Chelle has been linked with interest from alot of teams following Nigeria’s recent performances, contributing to heightened discussion about his future with the Super Eagles.
