NPFL 25/26: Bendel Insurance suspend Ikhenoba after poor start to the season

The Edo State Sports Commission has suspended Bendel Insurance head coach Greg Ikhenoba following a poor run of results in the Nigeria Premier Football League(NPFL).

The decision, approved by the Commission’s Executive Chairman Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, takes effect from Monday, October 6, 2025.

A statement signed by the Director of Media and Communications, Kehinde Osagiede, said the decision followed the team’s disappointing form, capped by Saturday’s 1-0 home defeat to Nasarawa United at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.

Ikhenoba, who initially took temporary charge after Monday Odigie’s resignation in November 2024, was officially confirmed as head coach on 10 January 2025.

He helped the Benin Arsenal preserve their NPFL status last season, guiding them to 12 wins, six draws and six losses in 24 matches.
