Defending champions Remo Stars defeated Wikki Tourists 2-0 at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta to return to winning ways on Matchday 7 of the Nigeria Premier Football League(NPFL).
After a cagey first half, the Sky Blue Stars took control late in the game. Malian forward Adama Goita opened the scoring in the 80th minute, meeting Abubakar’s inch-perfect cross with a composed side-footed finish.
His first-ever NPFL goal and second of the season following his CAF Champions League strike against US Zilimadjor.
Alex Oyowah sealed the points in the 90th minute, pouncing after Wikki goalkeeper Chizoba Okoh spilled Chilekwu’s free-kick, allowing the champions to record their third league win of the season.

Earlier in the game, Remo had spurned a series of chances, Olamilekan Adedayo fired straight at the goalkeeper in the 6th minute, while Goita curled wide after a quick turnover.

Ibe also went down under a challenge in the box, but the referee waved play on.

The victory lifts Remo Stars to ninth on the log with 10 points from seven matches. Daniel Ogunmodede’s side, currently led by his assistants while he is away with the Super Eagles, will next travel to Katsina United, who lost to Rangers in Enugu.

For Abdul Maikaba’s Wikki Tourists, the result extends their winless run to four matches two draws and two defeats, leaving them 15th on the table with eight points.
They will hope to rediscover form when they host Kwara United on Sunday, a side also in turmoil after parting ways with coach Tunde Sanni.
