Abia State Governor Alex Otti has splashed ₦30 million on Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) giants Enyimba following their match day 5 dramatic 3-2 comeback victory against Bendel Insurance in Aba on Sunday.
The Governor, attending his first Enyimba match of the season, praised the team’s resilience after twice coming from behind to secure the win in front of their home fans.
The visitors stunned the crowd early when Chinedu Nwosu put Bendel Insurance ahead in the second minute. Enyimba equalised through Joseph Abiodun in the 18th minute, but Nwosu struck again on the hour mark to restore Insurance’s advantage.
Enyimba responded immediately. Kalu Nweke converted a 65th-minute penalty before substitute Chidera Michael completed the turnaround with a composed finish four minutes later to seal the 3-2 win.

“This is my first time watching you live this season, and you made me very proud with that performance,” Otti said.
“As a token of appreciation, I will reward you with ₦10 million per goal. By Monday, your Chairman will receive ₦30 million for the three goals you scored.”

Enyimba Head Coach Stanley Eguma, who joined the club earlier this season, dedicated the victory both to Governor Otti and to his late mother, Mrs. Ruth Eguma, who passed away three days earlier.
“I thank God for today’s win. I dedicate it to His Excellency, Dr Alex Otti, for his motivation and for being present to support us,” Eguma said. “This victory is also for my mother, who was always a pillar of support.”
