The Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) has announced an increased prize pool of ₦24.5 million for the 2025 NWFL Premiership Super 6, with improved financial rewards across the board. Four clubs remain in contention heading into the final round.
Champions of this year’s edition will take home ₦10 million, matching the prize awarded in the past two seasons. However, runners-up will now receive ₦6 million, and third place ₦4 million—up by ₦1 million from last year.
In a notable boost, the bottom three clubs will each earn ₦1.5 million, tripling last year’s ₦500,000 payout. The move is seen as a strategic push towards greater sustainability for women’s football clubs.
NWFL Chairperson Nkechi Obi hailed the revised structure as vital to professionalising the domestic women’s game.
“This is a deliberate step to ensure that all clubs leave the NWFL Premiership Super 6 with something tangible,” Obi said. “By increasing the financial rewards, especially for the bottom three, we’re reinforcing our commitment to growing the women’s game and attracting more investment.”

Beyond financial incentives, the Super 6 champions will also clinch Nigeria’s lone ticket to the WAFU qualifiers for the CAF Women’s Champions League, and potentially a spot in the inaugural FIFA Women’s Club World Championship—should they go far in the continental tournament.
The final round of fixtures on Saturday, 17 May, promises a dramatic climax. Bayelsa Queens, defending champions Edo Queens, Nasarawa Amazons, and debutants Remo Stars Ladies are all still in the title race—a rarity that reflects the growing competitiveness of the NWFL.
