The General Manager and CEO of Rangers International Football Club, Barr. Amobi Ezeaku, has been named Sports Icon of the Year at the 5th Frontier Discourse Annual Public Lecture and Awards.
The event, organized by Pacesetter Frontier Magazine, took place on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at the Nigerian National Merit Award House in Maitama, Abuja.
The ceremony brought together prominent figures from sports, media, and governance to celebrate individuals and institutions driving excellence and innovation across sectors in Nigeria.
Receiving the award, Barr. Ezeaku dedicated the recognition to the Governor of Enugu State, describing him as “a visionary leader whose support for sports development has continued to inspire progress at Rangers and beyond.”

He also expressed gratitude to his wife, Chisom, and their children for their support throughout his career.
Reflecting on the achievement, the Rangers CEO highlighted the club’s transformation under his leadership and said the award reinforced the “Never Say Die” spirit that defines Rangers and its supporters.
“This award is not about me alone. It is about a journey, the journey of believing that sports can unite a people, inspire hope, and rebuild the soul of a community,” he said.

A sports lawyer and FIFA Master, Barr. Ezeaku has led Rangers International FC through a period of notable resurgence, including winning the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League title, securing multiple sponsorships, and strengthening youth development through the Rangers Foundation and Academicals.
