The fixtures for the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season have been officially released, with defending champions Remo Stars set to host Rivers United in a mouthwatering Matchweek One clash on August 22.
Remo Stars were handsomely rewarded after a historic title triumph last season becoming the first Southwest club to win the league in 25 years.

The Ikenne-based outfit amassed 71 points from 38 games, winning 22, drawing 5, and losing 11.
Newly promoted side Kun Khalifat FC have been handed a baptism of fire with a daunting away trip to Rangers International, while Barau FC make their top-flight debut at home against record winners Enyimba International.

The league, which promises to be even more competitive this term, will see ₦200 million awarded to the eventual champions, a record-breaking cash prize aimed at elevating standards.

Last season delivered plenty of drama, with 380 matches producing 286 wins, 92 draws, and 552 home goals. Over 1,180 cards were issued, and fans witnessed 16 missed penalties.
The race for the golden boot was headlined by Yusuf Anas, who netted 18 goals, including back-to-back hat-tricks a feat rarely seen in NPFL history. He was closely followed by Rabiu Ali, who finished with 13 goals.
With four new teams Kun Khalifat, Warri Wolves, Wikki Tourists, and Barau FC joining the fray, fans can expect an unpredictable and thrilling campaign.
