Rwanda FA apologizes to fans after ticketing chaos and Nigeria defeat

Rwanda Football Federation has issued a public apology to supporters following the national team’s defeat to Nigeria.

The Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) has issued a public apology to supporters following the national team’s 2-0 defeat to Nigeria in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Victor Osimhen’s first-half brace handed the Super Eagles a crucial win at the Amavubi’s expense in front of a packed stadium in Rwanda.

The result deepened Rwanda’s struggles in the qualification campaign, leaving them with just one win in their last five matches and at risk of missing out on the World Cup.

Meanwhile, Nigeria’s victory provided a significant boost to their qualification hopes as they continue to recover from a slow start to the campaign.

FERWAFA Addresses Ticketing Issues

In the aftermath of the match, FERWAFA acknowledged the logistical issues that prevented some ticket holders from entering the stadium. In an official statement, the federation extended an apology and announced a compensation plan for affected fans.

“We extend our deepest gratitude to all Rwandans and Amavubi supporters who came to support the National Team in the match against Nigeria,”

“We sincerely apologize to those who purchased tickets but were unable to attend the game. As compensation, we would like to inform you that tickets priced at 1,000 RWF and 2,000

RWF will be valid for the next match against Lesotho, scheduled for March 25, 2025. Additionally, all other unused ticket categories from today’s game will also remain valid for the upcoming match” FERWAFA stated.

Turning Attention to Lesotho

Following the disappointment against Nigeria, Rwanda must now shift focus to their next qualifier against Lesotho. With qualification hopes still alive, the Amavubi will be eager to bounce back and reward their supporters with a stronger performance.

FERWAFA’s swift action to address the ticketing mishap aims to ensure that fans remain engaged and motivated to support the team in their upcoming fixtures.

On the other hand, Nigeria, buoyed by Osimhen’s heroics, will shift focus to their upcoming encounter against Zimbabwe. With momentum now in their favor, the Super Eagles are determined to continue their resurgence in the qualification race and strengthen their position in the standings.
