Werder Bremen are interested in signing Nigeria international Taiwo Awoniyi on loan from Nottingham Forest before the transfer window closes.
According to German outlet Sport, the Bundesliga club want the 27-year-old on a season-long deal, though they are not considering a permanent move at this stage.
Awoniyi, who joined Forest from Union Berlin in 2022, has slipped down the pecking order at the City Ground following the arrivals of Igor Jesus and Arnaud Kalimuendo.
The striker, who previously scored 20 goals in 43 appearances during his time in Germany, has yet to play a single minute this season.

Chris Wood has retained his spot as first-choice striker under Nuno Espírito Santo, with Jesus and Kalimuendo also ahead of Awoniyi in the manager’s plans.

Last season, injuries hampered Awoniyi’s impact and allowed Wood to establish himself in the starting line-up. With Forest preparing for their Europa League campaign, further attacking reinforcements have pushed the Nigerian further out of contention.

Bremen, who are seeking a proven forward, see Awoniyi’s Bundesliga experience as a major asset.
The German transfer window closes on 1 September, leaving little time for the move to be finalised.
