Super Eagles to face Iran and Jordan in Amman

The Super Eagles will compete in a four-nation invitational tournament in Jordan during the March international window.

Nigeria are scheduled to face Iran, hosts Jordan and Costa Rica in the competition to be staged in the capital city of Amman.

The three-time African champions will begin their campaign against Iran on Friday, 27 March at the Amman International Stadium.

They will then remain at the same venue to take on Jordan on Tuesday, 31 March, while Costa Rica meet Iran elsewhere as part of the round-robin event.

Organisers are expected to release kick-off times and the full tournament schedule in the coming days.

Squad assessment opportunity

Head coach Eric Chelle will use the fixtures as part of an ongoing squad evaluation following Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign.

The matches are expected to provide opportunities for emerging players to integrate into the senior set-up, while allowing the technical crew to refine tactical options ahead of future competitive fixtures.

Nigeria will also encounter varied opposition styles from Asia, Central America and the Middle East, offering a broad test of adaptability during the international window.

World Cup context

The tournament comes amid uncertainty surrounding Nigeria’s pathway towards the expanded 2026 FIFA World Cup.
