Super Eagles forward Nathan Tella registered his second assist of the season as Bayer Leverkusen were held to a dramatic 3-3 draw by 10-man Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga.
Bayer Leverkusen needed a victory to get their Bundesliga campaign on track under new coach Erik Ten Hag, and they wasted little time in getting the business done.
Leverkusen, beaten 2-1 at home by Hoffenheim on the opening weekend, were chasing their first win of the campaign and made a bright start when Tella set up Patrik Schick for the opener inside five minutes.
Malik Tillman doubled the visitors’ lead in the 35th minute, but Bremen hit back before the break through a Niklas Schmidt penalty.

The hosts’ hopes were hit in the 63rd minute when Niklas Stark was sent off for a foul on Christian Kofane, with Schick converting the spot-kick to restore Leverkusen’s two-goal cushion.

But Bremen staged a late fightback. Isaac Schmidt pulled one back in the 76th minute before 18-year-old substitute Abdoul Karim Coulibaly struck a stoppage-time equaliser to snatch a point.
The Super Eagles star had 84 minutes of action before he was replaced by Ibrahim Maza.
