Valencia has decided not to pursue the permanent signing of Super Eagles striker Umar Sadiq, citing the high financial demands set by Real Sociedad as the reason. Sadiq joined Valencia on a six-month loan deal in January and has since scored six goals in 19 La Liga appearances, helping the club steer clear of relegation fears.
The Spanish club had included an option-to-buy clause in Sadiq’s loan deal, which would have required them to pay Real Sociedad €9 million. However, Valencia has opted not to activate this clause due to financial constraints and shifting priorities. The club reportedly paid a €500,000 loan fee to Real Sociedad and covered Sadiq’s full salary during the loan stint.

Sadiq’s future now appears to lie away from both Valencia and Real Sociedad. The 28-year-old Nigerian forward will await new offers as the transfer window progresses. Several clubs, including those in Qatar, have reportedly expressed interest in signing Sadiq.
A potential move to Qatar could be lucrative for the striker, who is nearing the latter stages of his career.

Sadiq has previously spoken about the challenges he faced during his spell at Real Sociedad, citing injury and limited playing time as the main reasons for his struggles. He has, however, rediscovered his form at Valencia, scoring crucial goals and helping the club secure important victories.

With Valencia ruling out a permanent deal, Sadiq’s next move will be crucial in determining his future. A return to Real Sociedad is still a possibility, especially with a new coach set to arrive in the summer.
However, Sadiq’s impressive form at Valencia suggests that he may be better off staying in the Spanish capital or exploring other options in Europe or beyond.
