Super Eagles striker Akor Adams is on the verge of completing a move to newly promoted Serie A side Venezia, with the Italian club confirming negotiations with Sevilla are in their final stages.

The transfer gathered momentum after renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported that Venezia and Sevilla had reached an agreement on a €16 million deal for the Nigerian forward.

Now, Venezia sporting director Filippo Antonelli has revealed that only the final details remain before the transfer can be completed.

“I promise that I will tell you everything once it is all closed,” Antonelli told reporters.

“The talks are at a very advanced stage, but there are still some final details to work out.”

The latest update comes just days after Antonelli travelled to Andalusia for face-to-face talks with Sevilla officials, a visit that signalled the Italian club’s determination to secure the 26-year-old’s signature.

Venezia had initially submitted a €10 million offer for Adams, but Sevilla rejected the bid while valuing the striker at around €25 million. After further negotiations, both clubs eventually settled on a deal worth €16 million, with the player already believed to have agreed personal terms.

Once the remaining paperwork is completed, Adams is expected to travel to Italy for his medical before the transfer is officially announced.

The move would mark another chapter in the Nigerian’s rapid rise through European football.

After spells with Sogndal and Lillestrøm in Norway, Adams earned a move to French side Montpellier before joining Sevilla in January 2025 for €5.5 million.

Despite Sevilla enduring a difficult campaign, Adams impressed by finishing as the club’s leading scorer, registering 10 goals and three assists in 32 La Liga appearances.

His performances attracted interest from several clubs across Europe, but Venezia have moved quickest to secure his services as they prepare for life back in Serie A after winning the Serie B title last season.
