Victor Osimhen: Super Eagles Striker’s market value drops again—but a massive transfer twist looms

The market value of Super Eagles and Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen has taken another hit, even as he continues to shine in Turkey.

According to Transfermarkt’s latest update, the Nigerian striker’s valuation has dropped from €75 million to €70 million the second consecutive decrease since he joined Galatasaray on loan from Napoli last summer.

Osimhen’s contract with Napoli runs until June 2026, with an option for a one-year extension.

Osimhen initially arrived at the Turkish champions with a €100 million valuation. However, the absence of a big-money transfer to a top European league has led to a steady decline in his market worth. Despite this, the 26-year-old remains the most valuable player in the Süper Lig.

“In the winter, there were numerous speculations about Osimhen leaving Galatasaray before his loan from Napoli ended,” said Transfermarkt’s Türkiye Area Manager, Lara Karacan.

“Reports indicated that several clubs were prepared to trigger his €75 million release clause, but Osimhen chose to stay in the Süper Lig until the end of the season. Such a decision inevitably affects his market perception and explains his drop in valuation.”

Osimhen Remains in Top Form, Attracts European Interest

Despite the downgrade, Osimhen has been in outstanding form, scoring 26 goals and providing five assists in 30 games across all competitions for Galatasaray.

His performances have drawn interest from top European clubs, with La Liga giants Barcelona reportedly considering a move in 2025.

According to Football Italia, citing Corriere dello Sport, Barcelona are eyeing Osimhen as a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski and hope to sign him for less than his €75 million release clause in the summer of 2025.

Although Lewandowski remains in top form at 36 having scored an impressive 35 goals this season Barcelona are planning for the future.

Osimhen’s speed, strength, and finishing ability make him a strong candidate to lead their attack in the coming years.

The Catalan club is also keeping tabs on Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyökeres, Lille’s Jonathan David, and Juventus’ Dušan Vlahović.

However, Osimhen’s proven track record and ability to complement teenage sensation Lamine Yamal could make him their top priority.
