The Super Falcons received another boost to their preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) on Tuesday after forward Folashade Ijamilusi arrived at the team’s training camp in Casablanca, Morocco.
Ijamilusi checked into the squad’s Hotel Marriott base shortly before 3 p.m., increasing the number of players in camp to 23 as Nigeria continue preparations for the defence of their continental crown.
The 24-year-old, who plays for Chinese side Liaoning Shenyang Shenbei Hefeng, was one of Nigeria’s standout performers during the last edition of the tournament. The former youth international scored twice, including the crucial equaliser that sparked the Super Falcons’ remarkable 3-2 comeback victory over hosts Morocco in the final, helping Nigeria secure a record extending 10th WAFCON title.
However, head coach Justine Madugu is still waiting for the arrival of midfielder Deborah Abiodun and forward Gift Monday after travel disruption delayed their journey from the United States.
The Nigeria Football Federation confirmed that the duo were unable to travel after their scheduled flight was cancelled because of technical issues. Both players had already arrived at the airport before they were informed of the cancellation.

The federation has since arranged fresh flight tickets, with Abiodun and Monday expected to join the squad in Morocco as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, the defending champions have continued intensive training sessions at the La Noria Club in Casablanca ahead of their relocation to Morocco’s administrative capital, Rabat.
Nigeria will play all their Group C matches in Rabat, beginning with an opening fixture against Malawi next Tuesday before facing Egypt and Zambia as they begin their quest for an unprecedented 11th WAFCON title.

Before the competition gets underway, the Super Falcons will attend the official team arrival meeting with officials of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Local Organising Committee on Saturday, July 25, as final preparations gather pace ahead of the tournament.
